Do you hate chores but have to do them? Here’s 5 ways to make chores fun and enjoyable. With these cleaning hacks in place, the time to complete chores goes by quickly. Sounds crazy, but I find myself looking forward to even the most mundane of tasks.
5 Ways to Make Chores Fun and Enjoyable
I absolutely love to read. However, I never feel as if I have enough time to actually sit and enjoy a book.
But then, I discovered audio books and my life has never been the same… seriously.
Audio Books allow me to “read” and enjoy books without the time commitment. Not only that, but I can multitask and feel productive while getting lost in a good story. This makes the time fly by!
I feel such a sense of accomplishment when I finish a book and get chores done in record time.
Side note: Audio books are also great for commutes around town and road trips.
Music makes everyone happy.
Turn up your favorite jams and dance or sing your way through vacuuming and toilet scrubbing!
This cleaning hack doubles as a cardio workout if you shimmy and shake enough to get your heart rate up!
I finish chores feeling energized and uplifted when I have the tunes cranked up.
Go ahead! Dance and sing your heart out while mopping the floor. After all, you’re in your own home and can be as silly and as goofy as you’d like.
I am super competitive and can even compete against myself… while unloading the dishwasher.
That’s right! I know my personal record for dishwasher unloading and try and beat it every time.
I’m currently working on consistently getting it under 5 minutes.
I also know that I can speed-fold a load of laundry in about 10 minutes.
Setting a timer and turning it into a challenge makes it more fun and makes the time go by faster. Finishing chores in less time leaves more room for the things I really love.
Personally, I really like to use the timer feature on my echo dot but any old timer will do.
Ready? Set. Go!
Similar to audio books, podcasts are another way to keep your brain audio-occupied while maintaining your home.
Unlike audio books, however, podcasts are short and require less investment of your time. They typically last anywhere from 20 minutes to an hour.
Many people just don’t have the attention span or desire to solider through an entire book making podcasts the perfect alternative.
What type of podcasts are there to enjoy? Literally, anything and everything you could possibly imagine.
Just head to the app on your phone where you can listen to podcasts for free. If you don’t have one, download one. I use Castbox.
Then, search for whatever it is you are interested in. You will find a podcast for it. My go-tos are typically parenting and/or faith based podcasts but you do you in this department.
Side note: If you’re a parent, there are SO MANY fun podcasts for kids you can listen to in the car as you shuffle them around town.
Make a Phone Call
Have you been wanting to catch up with a friend over the phone but just haven’t found the time?
Need to call your cable company or bank but are dreading being left on hold for what seems like forever?
Well… do it while you’re tackling that pile of laundry or cleaning out your closet.
That way, while finishing chores, you’re also either enjoying a much needed conversation or you’re getting something accomplished that you’ve had on your to-do list for weeks.
