These six, truly amazing and, I would dare say, life-changing podcasts for the Christian Mom will leave you feeling encouraged, equipped and entertained. They are heartfelt, helpful and down-right hilarious at times.
What parent doesn’t need a good laugh?! I certainly do! These kids are crazy and I need all the humor and advice I can get. But I don’t just want any advice. I want advice that is grounded in God’s word, values, principles and His character.
I want to hear from parents who have been through or who are currently going through the beautiful yet oftentimes brutal world of parenting with their eyes fixed on Jesus and their hearts fully committed to loving, guiding and disciplining their kids in a way that honors God.

Many of them cover topics closely tied to parenting, too, such as marriage, friendships, family relationships, ministry, serving, self-care, worship, finding and building community and many, many more. All issues that may not deal exactly with raising children but, ultimately, can help us be better parents.
You guys, these podcasts are AWESOME. And, even better, you don’t have to take any extra time out of your day to listen to them! Which is perfect because NONE OF US HAVE ANY EXTRA TIME!
You can pop in some ear buds and listen to them while you are out for a walk, at the gym, working in the yard, cleaning your house, cooking dinner, driving in you car (take your ear buds out for that, though) or waiting in the car line.
I hope you all enjoy them! I am super excited to share them with you!
Focus on the Family Podcast with Jim Daly and John Fuller
This is one of my husband’s favorites so, Dad’s, listen up! This one’s for you, too!
The Focus on the Family ministry has been around since the late 70’s. Many of you have probably heard of Dr. James Dobson. He is the founder of Focus on the Family and the author or co-author of 36 books.
I recently read his books, Bringing Up Girls and Bringing Up Boys. Both wonderful and insightful reads for the Christian parent, if you’re interested.
This podcast is just superb and beautifully made. I mean, I could go on forever about the inspiring stories they tell and the amazing people they interview but you will just have to tune in for yourself. Some titles of the most recent episodes I have listened to (and all were great) include:
- Game Plan for Raising Well-behaved Children (parts 1 and 2)
- Giving Your Teen Freedom to Become an Adult (parts 1 and 2)
- Reducing Drama in Your Relationships (parts 1 and 2)
- Enjoying Marriage at any Age
- Saying the Right Thing When Your Child Misbehaves (parts 1 and 2)
- Raising daughters in God’s Wisdom
- How to Positively Influence Your Husband (parts 1 and 2)
- Hope and Renewal for our Pastors
I mean, I cannot think of any parent who cannot relate to or be hungry to know more about these topics. And there are SO MANY MORE! You’re welcome!
Wire Talk with Karen Stubbs
Buckle up, Mamas, because this one is goooooooooooooooooooood! In fact, it may be my favorite but, shhhhh, don’t tell the others. I don’t want to hurt their feelings.
Why is it my favorite?
Well, first of all it is super practical. The host, Karen Stubbs, and her co-host, Sunny Williams, take questions sent in by parents and answer them to the best of their ability based on God’s word and their own personal experiences. Every single question they have answered has been something I desperately need to know more about. These ladies offer solid, real-life examples on how to deal with the pressures that moms and wives face.
Karen is the Founder of Birds on a Wire, a ministry for moms. She is also a military wife and a mother of four, grown kids. Anyone who has raised 4 kids while dealing with a husband who is deployed and who is attempting to seek out God’s wisdom in the process is a saint in my book.
Sunny, the co-host, is a mother of two adolescent children and is always warm, inviting and authentic. She gets misty eyed and emotional during many an episode and I really appreciate her genuine humility.
Second, while I am listening to this podcast, no matter what I am doing, I feel like I am cuddled up on the couch sipping coffee while chatting and laughing with one of my best girlfriends. I could be scrubbing toilets, folding laundry, scraping off dried-on toothpaste from the kids’ sinks or sitting in a seemingly endless school car line but with this podcast playing I feel warm, cozy and welcomed.
Journey Women Podcast with Hunter Beless
This one was made to empower and encourage the christian women, not just Moms. However, the host, Hunter Beless, is a mom and many of the episodes focus on or circle back to parenting in some way.
First of all, how awesome is the name Hunter Beless? Hunter is such a kick-butt girl name and Beless is such a fitting last name to be associated with the host of a christian podcast. Get it? BE LESS and let God BE MORE.
Second, Hunter is such a cheerleader for life. She is beyond positive and affirming. I feel like I am in the middle of a mini worship session every time I tune in to Journey Women. She does not want you to be on this journey alone and wants all women everywhere to have the resources they need to face the challenges of life with graceful confidence as well as the peace and hope that only Christ can bring.
On this podcast, influential Christian leaders, authors and speakers are interviewed to share their stories and wisdom in an effort to equip christian women in their everyday life and walk with God.
The Happy Hour Podcast with Jamie Ivey
If you want to hear some jaw-dropping stories about how God has taken women from the depths of despair to the heights of redemption and totally transformed their lives, then this podcast is for you.
But she doesn’t just discuss the big stuff. She covers the small, mundane bits of life, too (which can so often feel big and overwhelming).
You’ll feel like you are having dinner with a fun, giggly group of girlfriends as you listen to Jamie and her guests discuss parenting, marriage, faith, relationships, work-life balance, successes, failures and more.
Important side note: Jamie is super funny and loves to make people laugh so this one checks the boxes for both heartfelt and hilarious.
Jamie Ivey also has her own awe-inspiring story of redemption and salvation which you can read about in her phenomenal book, If You Only Knew: My Unlikely, Unavoidable Story of Becoming Free. It is a really great read!
Risen Motherhood Podcast with Emily Jensen and Laura Wifler
This is how the podcast is described under the show’s DETAILS section:
A weekly podcast for moms. A space to remember we are not alone in our experiences, be challenged to have joy among the chaos, remember grace covers guilt, and seek the truth of the Gospel above all else. This podcast is for the imperfect mother, still learning, still growing and still fully recognizing she doesn’t have it all together – but comes everyday, to the base of the cross, to seek the one who does.
Wow. Just wow.
Doesn’t that make you want to take a big ol’ sigh of relief?! It makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside knowing I have this giant army of like-minded women and one, big awesome God whose got my back. It also makes me feel confident and hopeful that, with God’s help, I am going to survive this motherhood thing.
I love this podcast because it is so real and sweet and is put on by two girls who are sister’s in law and who genuinely wanted to create a space to encourage moms and let them know, it’s going to be okay.
Wasn’t that nice of them?!
For The Love Podcast with Jen Hatmaker
I will forever be this lady’s biggest fan. I have read all her books (minus the really early years), done all her devotionals and basically think everything she writes and says is HILARIOUS. She is a mom of 5 and a pastor’s wife. If you are not following her on social media then you are missing out on some good seriously good laughs, some fabulous recipe tips and some even better encouragement.
Her podcast covers a myriad of topics including friendship, parenting, fashion, food, books, faith, television and more! You will experience all the feels during this one including laughing and crying… often in the same episode.
Also, just an FYI, I once got to talk to Jen Hatmaker on the actual phone because my best friend and I entered and WON her “For the Love of Costco” contest with some seriously hilarious photos we took around the store. It was a contest to promote her book, For the Love, as well as the always-awesome Costco. I have inserted the pictures below for your enjoyment! I laugh every time I look at them!
I really hope you take a listen to these six podcasts and I pray you get as much joy and encouragement out of them as I do!
